Joint Classifications and Types | Skeletal System 04 | Anatomy & Physiology

1. Classification of joints – fibrous (fixed), cartilaginous (slightly moveable), synovial (freely moveable).
2. Structure and function of components of synovial joints (joint capsule, bursa, articular cartilage, synovial membrane, synovial fluid, ligaments).
3. Six types of synovial joints (ball and socket, condyloid, gliding, saddle, hinge, pivot).

Joints & Joint Movements | Skeletal System 05 | Anatomy & Physiology

joints No Comments »

This video teaches about the bones that form important #synovial joints in the human body including the shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, knee and ankle. I then explain a range of joint movements that are possible at these joints and other joints in the body.

I explain all of these movements: #flexion, #extension, dorsiflexion, plantarflexion, lateral flexion, horizontal flexion and horizontal extension, hyperextension, abduction, adduction, horizontal abduction and adduction, rotation, circumduction.

For other physical geology lectures: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLcI_lGDDt5A65hZDfQVPMEUzDRYYXWHoy

This lecture video discusses the way in which rocks deform and change shape under stress by folding, faulting, and forming joints. I cover the types of faults (dip-slip and strike-slip), the types of folds (anticline and syncline), and the features along faults and folds, like shutter ridges, sag ponds, fault-formed springs, and pop-up structures. I hope you enjoy it!

Science for kids | Body Parts - Joints & Skeletal System | Experiments for kids | Operation Ouch

How do joints in the skeletal system work? Biology and body parts for kids explained in this video. Operation Ouch is a British science show for kids that is full of experiments and biological learnings. In this educational TV show, twin brothers Dr. Chris and Dr. Xand do science experiments for kids, to explain us how the human body with all its different parts and systems works, and how medicine and medical procedures can help. Biology for kids in a fun format!

Preempting Pandemics: Building a Robust Public Health System

The coronavirus outbreak that originated in Wuhan in December 2019 has now spread to over 50 countries across 6 continents with more than 80,000 reported cases and the death toll having crossed 2800. To contain the spread of this infection, more than 20 Chinese cities have been placed under lockdown and other countries have issued travel advisories. Recognizing the severity of the infection, the World Health Organization (WHO) has declared this outbreak a global health emergency. With cases of coronavirus outbreak being confirmed in India, are we prepared to tackle it effectively? This workshop will examine the source of the infection, evaluate its relationship with other pre-existing coronaviruses, assess its potential to become a pandemic, and discuss India’s capacity to prepare and respond to such infections.

Discussants:

Shahid Jameel, chief executive officer of the Wellcome Trust/DBT India Alliance
Gautam Menon, professor of physics and biology at Ashoka University
Chitra Pattabiraman, fellow at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuroscience
