Science for kids | Body Parts - Joints & Skeletal System | Experiments for kids | Operation Ouch

How do joints in the skeletal system work? Biology and body parts for kids explained in this video. Operation Ouch is a British science show for kids that is full of experiments and biological learnings. In this educational TV show, twin brothers Dr. Chris and Dr. Xand do science experiments for kids, to explain us how the human body with all its different parts and systems works, and how medicine and medical procedures can help. Biology for kids in a fun format!

In this video we are going to learn more about what joints are.
● What joints are
● 3 main types
● Structure
● Injuries

Joints are junctions between two or more bones. Without them we would be one big bone and not
able to move without snapping… which would be a slight problem…!

Joints: Structure and Types of Motion

We’ve learned about bones and the skeletal system, but bones are so hard, so why are our bodies so bendy and flexible? The answer is joints! Joints let our bodies move in all the way they do, and they are many different types, so let’s check out their structures now.

Types of Joints: Synovial, Fibrous, Cartilaginous

joints No Comments »

There are approximately 400 joints in the human body; no worries, though, since we will only focus on the few which are more common in terms of function and of course, vulnerability. Since we have a lot of joints, it’s only proper that we classify them according to either their structure or their function.

A joint is where two bones meet in the Human body. Without joints, movement as we know would be impossible. After this video, you should find out how many joints in the Human body are you able to identify. Try this quiz: https://khub.me/m0ftb

So as you’ve probably already observed within your own body, the bones of the human body work together to create a structural scaffolding to protect the internal organs and to facilitate movement. Every bone in the body articulates with at least one other bone, with the exception of the hyoid bone which is floating up around the neck. Articulation, which is the joining together of two bone structures, is what makes movement possible and the point of articulation between two bones is called a joint. Joints are classified according to the range of motion they exhibit and the types of tissue that holds the bones together.

We classify joints according to the types of tissues holding the articulating bones together. With that in mind, we can describe three distinct types of joints and these are the synovial joint, the fibrous joint and the cartilaginous joint.

In this video tutorial, we will be going over the following points:
– definition of articulation/joint;
– joint classification;
– synovial joints;
– fibrous joints;
– cartilaginous joints;
– classification of joints based on range of motion;
– ball and socket joints;
– hinge joints;
– pivot joints;
– condylar joints;
– saddle joints;
– plane joints;
